Some famous temples of Khajuraho-
Adinath Temple-The temple is constructed in memory of jain Saint Adinath in late 11th century during the reign of Kirta Varman .With the elegant architecture, images of Yakshis are drawn on the wall and courtyard of the temples.
Dulah Deo temple- It is one the most famous temples of Khajuraho due to its fantastic sculpture work especially in Shalbhanika. The temple includes ardhmandap, mandap, the mahamandap, the antarala and the Grabhgriha. The theme of the sculptures engraved in the temples basically a contrast between sensual and the repulsive with the bodies of Apsaras at one hand and the squat figures of beasts at another.
Chausant Yogini- one of the oldest surviving temple of Khajuraho, it is dedicated to Goddess Kali. The temple is fully made up off granite stone has got its name Chaunsat from the cells of 64 attendants of Goddess Kali. It is dedicated to 64 yoginis who symbolizes manifestation of Shakti, the female force. |
