Mahabalipuram Beach
also known, as "Mamallapuram" is situated
60-kms, south of Chennai, nestled on the shores of the
Bay of Bengal. It was once a port of the Pallavas, who
have created many marvelous monuments with Sculptural
Panels, Caves, Monolithic Rathas (chariots) and Temples.
Mahabalipuram is probably one of the finest un-spoilt
beaches in India on the coastline of Tamil Nadu. The
port town of Mahabalipuram along with its beaches will
sweep you off your feet.

Marina Beach as
one of the longest beaches in Asia, Marina's 12-km long
stretch is a major crowd puller to this beach site.
Located on the eastern side of Chennai, adjoining the
Bay of Bengal. The fine sandy beach said to be the longest
beach in India and one of the longest in Asia, extends
to a length of 55 Km, from Fort St. George all the way
to Mahabalipuram. There is a drive along the beach fringed
with palms and casuarinas running the whole length of
Chennai.

Muttukkadu Beach
locate at 36 km from Chennai, Muttukkadu is known for
its backwater and estuary. It is ideal for rides on
motorized boats or for wind surfing. One can hire a
pedal boat or a row boat for cruising leisurely. Other
activities one can indulge at Muttukkadu are angling
and fishing.

Pichavaram Beach
ranks among the most exquisite scenic spot with abundant
and varied tourism resources. Pichavaram is located
at a distance of 16-km from Chidambaram and 75-km to
the south from Pondicherry. The Pichavaram mangroves
are considered among the healthiest mangrove occurrence
in the world. Pichavaram consist of number of islands
interspersing a vast expanse of water and covered with
green trees.

Poompuhar Beach it
was formerly known as "Puhar", but due to
the exquisite beauty of the port town, it came to
be called as `Poompuhar'. Another name of Poompuhar
was Kaveripoompattinam. Just 40-km from Chidambaram,
Poompuhar, once the biggest port on the east coast,
was at its peak under the earlier Chola Kings.

Pulicat Beach
is 60 km north of Chennai on national Highway No.5.A
saline shallow water spread formed by the confluence
of backwaters. Pulicat Lake and Buckingham Canal are
situated on the northern end of Tamil Nadu is an ideal
picnic spot. A catamaran ride on the shallow water
spread and a visit to Bird Sanctuary are two most
anticipated activities. A Dutch cemetery of 17th century
is located on shore.
