Maharashtra Beaches

" Maharashtra " a perfect amalgamation of sun, sand and surf over 720-km along the Arabian Sea extending from Dahanu and Bordi in the north up to Goa proceeding southwards. With a plethora of beaches it provides a coastline for exciting water sports, sun bathing on golden sands, exploring grand fortresses, temples, and churches and discovering tiny, remote villages. The coastal climate of Maharashtra makes travelling pleasant all round the year. Mumbai is blessed with many beaches in its vicinity. Juhu Beach, Arangal Beach, Marve Beach, Madh Island Beach, Manori Beach, Gorai Beach Arnala Beach, Bordi Beach, Alibag Beach, Kihim Beach and Murud-Janjira Beach are some of the popular ones.

Marv-Manori-Gorai Beach, Maharashtra:: Marv-Manori-Gorai Beach Marve is a quaint little fishing village lying north of the city, which is also called as Borivali. Its villas and the fishing village offers a taste of colonial splendour and a lifestyle untouched by expansion and industrialization. The sunsets and sunrises that one can see here are enhanced by the hill ranges that frame the beach. "Manori & Gorai " these both beaches become favourite with the picnickers. The village folk here let out their homes and extend hospitality with cooked meals and drinks.

Murud Janjira Beach, Maharashtra:: Murud Janjira located at the foot of the hills Murud Janjira beach is popular for whispering casuarinas, coconut and betel palms, and 300-years old fort of Janjira. The shrine of Lord Dattatraya, the three heads representing Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara is located in a nearby hillock.

Shriwardhan-Harihareshwar Beach, Maharashtra:: Shriwardhan-Harihareshwar
Shriwardhan Bay located in Raigad district is irresistible to beach lovers because of its gentle winds, soft sands and inviting waters. Small boats are available to be taken out to the north side of the bay, and indulge in some exploration, going deep into the land, where the Peshwas, the prime ministers of the Maratha kingdom, originally dwelt. The 'Peshwa Smarak' is a local landmark, of much tourist interest. Harihareshwar is another town known for its tranquil and picturesque beach.

Tarkarli Beach, Maharashtra:: Tarkarli Beach situated 6-km south of Malvan and 546-km from Mumbai on the west coast of India, at the confluence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea. This place has gained prominence because of its long and narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters. One can see the bed unto a depth of 20 ft. It presents a panoramic view with tall 'Shuru' trees in the background. The wide river, the beautiful sailboats and the tiny wonderful islands hamlets situated on the riverbank.

Velneshwar Beach, Maharashtra:: Velneshwar Beach 170 km from Ratnagiri is Velneshwar a small village, North of Shastri River, which is famous for the beautiful and clean beach around fringed with serene coconut palm groves and the rock-free seawater. The beach is ideal for swimming or just lolling around. Swimming and other water sports are possible there as the beach is free from rocks. There is an old Shiva temple near Velneshwar which is frequently visited by pilgrims.

:: Vengurla Malvan Beach situated in the Southern part of the Maharashtra coastline, It's famous for its long stretch of shimmering sand, lined with thick cashew, coconut, jackfruit and mango groves. It also has two famous temples, the Shri Devi Sateri temple and the Rameshwar temple, to its credit. Vengurla was an important trade settlement in ancient times. A short distance away lie the Vengurla Rocks, also known as the Burnt Islands.
