A peculiar feature of Kalpeni atoll is the huge storm bank of coral debris along the eastern & southeastern shoreline.
:: Kavaratti Beach about 404 kms from Cochin, Kavaratti is a beautiful calm lagoon and an ideal spot for water sports, swimming and basking on warm sandy beaches. The island is about 06 kms in length and breadth is about 01 km. At the southern end, the land shrinks to a width of 47 metres. The lagoon on the western side is about 11/ 2kms wide. :: Minicoy Island also called "Malik" is situated at 8o17' north latitude and 73o04' east longitude. It is about 10.6 kms long, the second largest island, the first being Andrott. Half moon shaped, it has one of the largest lagoons. The main feature of the island is its carefully planned villages known as Athiris. Each Athiri has its own internal organisation headed by a Moopan around whom the life of the community rests. They have their own village house, their own street, bathing tanks, places of worship and burial.
