:: Kappad Beach locally known as Kappakadavu, is studded with rocks. Kappad is located at about 15 km from Kozhikode and famous for its lovely beach and backwaters. It was the Kappad beach where landed the first European trader and sailor, Vasco De Gama on 27th May 1498. The temple on the rock is believed to be 800 years old. Thousands of pilgrims come to the Varakala Beach to pray and offer 'Vavu Bali', a ritual performed in honour of their ancestors and relatives and to help the departed souls rest in peace.
:: Pathiramanal Beach lies between Thaneermukkom and Kumarakom the beach is a favourite haunt of hundreds of rare migratory birds from different parts of the land. An ideal place for a break in the journey while on a backwater cruise surrounded by the Vembanad Lake, stretching from Alappuzha to Kochi and the Kayamkulam Lake.
